Horn bracket/holder
« on: February 25, 2024, 17:53:32 »
Dear All,

I hope someone can point me in the correct direction of obtaining or another way of getting this.
Basically the left hand side horn was missing on my car but looking upon underneath the car I realised the horn is missing because the actual bracket/fitting is broken off at some point in the life of the car.

Now I cannot seem to find this part anywhere and not sure if this was ever available by Mercedes.

Could someone kindly advise how could mend this so I can attach the second horn. The wiring for the horn is all intact and not damaged.
Please see pictures below to see what part I am explaining about. (Highlighted in red)

Many thanks

Hello, these seem to look the same, although i have read the brackets changed over the years, so best check if they will fit your car

I believe that's the right side, under the air filter.

These are the correct ones. I am assuming these don’t have any part numbers.
Many thanks

Hi Pawel,

After reading your suggested link which led me on to further links, it seems like I need the bracket
in my picture 3 which needs to welded to the frame but I also need (part num: 113 540 02 73) which needs to be attached to the bracket that has been welded to the frame and then to the horn bracket because my car has power steering.  Please see picture below. (Photo belongs to this forum from another post).

I am also assuming I only require this on left side only. (Car is LHD)

Yes the 3rd picture is under the filter on right side. I am missing the one on the Left side.

Good you pinpointed what you need (not easy sometimes). Yes, I think it is about the left hand side in LHD. Reference here: https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=11922.0

I have to say I failed in finding a source for this intermediate bracket.

If you want it very original, the screws used there (M8 I think) were special - with a grove cut across threads to make it easy to screw them through painted nut. It you look closely at the tips of the screws on the pictures, you will see it.

Hi Pawel,

Luckily I managed to get hold of 2 genuine brackets this morning (113 540 0273) but I am still not sure whether I only need this bracket on one side or both.

According to the link you sent and pictures posted by John (thelews) it seems like both sides require them but another post by (66andblue) shows left side only required.

Also thanks for pointing out the special m8 bolt, I guess MB dealers will stock this.
Now the only item left is the main bracket that needs to be welded to the frame for left hand side.

Many thanks

To be honest, MB dealers will probably not stock it anymore….

As for the sides, I think, but not sure, this goes to left side only.
