Is front inner bearing retainer nessesary
« on: June 03, 2024, 02:23:37 »
Hi guys, I’m in the process of changing my front rotors so I decided to clean the hubs and grease
On one side, I have a retainer for the bearing behind the seal and none on the other side. I reassembled the one that doesn’t have it, and I only realized when I cleaned the other side that it was missing .
Is this part important ? I would think not since it’s all squeezed in ??its called a puller ring

Probably not critical since many other models do not use them.

Not critical but does make pulling the seal out much easier and also helps position the seal. Like you, one side had it and one didn't on mine. Not sure if Mercedes still has these, but they were crazy expensive when they did. I found one at a salvage yard. They might reproduce it now not sure. But you can certainly do without it.
