hello,
can anyone tell me what thickness spring pad (upper)  I need if my rear springs (280SL)  are marked with 3 yellow paint stripes and 3 red paint stripes?  I've searched for paint marking decoder ring but cannot find one.  I've read that the decoder is in the BBB, but I do not have that book.  The part # is unreadable on  the old spring pads that I have removed.  I know there are 3 options 18mm, 24mm, 30mm for the upper spring pads on the rear springs.

Another question: does the mounting of the lower spring pad plate indicate the upper spring pad thickness.  I understand there are 3 ways to install spring pad plate.  But what is the translation of the mounting to the 3 thickness options?

There are many postings on spring paint markings but no decoder to be found.
My car is 1969 280SL, manual, power steering, no AC.

thanks much
