« on: September 26, 2024, 00:29:31 »
Hello all,
Does anyone knows how can I find and add this missing part where it sits on clip holder?
Really appreciate it

Hi Hamid,
If I remember correctly there were two different types of sun visors.  Mine has a plastic, shaped like a little buckle. I think yours have about a 3mm bar across the gap and functions like a small hinge which clips into a plastic part screwed onto the top of the windscreen surround.
You could start with a similar sized rod or bar, about an inch or so long and see if you could slide it into the bracket situated in the gap. The bracket is not clearly visible. It is part of the wire frame of the sun visor and slightly hidden by the upholstery.
Googling around the internet, might give a an idea of the part you are looking for.
Good luck.

I am not sure which part you mean. The entire hinge? If so, they are available in SLS:

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your kind reply,
it looks like a hard plastic tube connecting two metal sides of the frame and sits on the clip on top surround.
a friend tells me to search on toy stores,
i would let you know if found,
cheers

Hi Pawel,
its a peace of hard plastic tube which sits on the clip at top windshield surround.
looks like you need to have put it on two sides metal parts of the frame and heat it.
they dont sell anywhere and i must search to find the material.
thanks brother

There we go, thanks Gary.
Hamid, Gary’s picture will give you a much better idea of what you are working with.
The 3 mm pin is held in position by the metal ”cage” and will acts as a hinge pin. Mine is a slightly different design so I can’t really help you any further, except. Measure holes in the bracket, my guess was about 3mm. Make yourself a pin that fits snugly into the bracket and it should work fine.
Good luck

Note - the photos are from a '71 280SL
Earlier ones may be different?
Hamid - the Tech Manual has instructions on how to rebuild sun visors - worth the $30 membership fee! 8)
