undercarriage product recommendations?

I've recently replaced the floor pans in my car and have applied seam sealer. Is there a roll on or spray undercoating product that is recommended?

A tar base product. Any auto shop should have a spray can of this.

You'll have to do it all at once and throw out the can. Once you first start spraying, either finish the can or toss it, it will clog!

Get a product that is paintable incase you ever plan on painting parts that were sprayed.  Some of the products out there are non paintable and even masking tape won't stick to it.

Go to a place like NAPA rather than a Walmart or Target for the product.  Make sure you mask where you don't want it as it goes everywhere when spraying.

I agree with above. Don't just roll some cheap tar on it. It should be paintable and somewhat duplicate the original texture. I used, U-POL Gravitex Plus HS Stone Chip Protector, and liked it a lot.

You need a compressor and they usually sell it with a bespoke application gun.

Goes on like the original stoneguard and can be painted over. Comes in 2 or 3 colours I think.

If I did paint the undercarriage of the car in the future what paint sheen is typically used?

It should be the car color. The undercarriage was not properly painted, it was more of an overspray coming from when the body was painted.

As I understand it, the factory sprayed on a light cream coloured paint under the car. When the body was sprayed, there would be overspray from the body on the sections underneath closest to the edges, but for the strictly correct factory look, you should use the non body paint underbody colour

Thanks for the post ------- may I ask some additional questions?

My car has not been sealed underneath..... I'm guessing that i should. Any comments that might help me get it done correctly?
Also, the car needs a good detailing...... are there better leather treatment products? better - new products that you can recommend for the wash wax? engine and undercarriage cleaning?  Best, dennis meyer

I would love to have dry ice done on my undercarriage but when I receive quotes of $2K or more its hard to justify.
