I tried to order Volume 3, without success. The order form was completed twice. Seems overly complicated.

Why do you think this was done without success? You actually filled out the order form TWICE, and I received TWO order forms. The disconnect here might be (which I thought I explained quite clearly in the posts on this project) that you expected some instant transaction, when in fact the order form is just used for MANUAL INPUT to the invoicing process on PayPal. Manual meaning I must, by hand, transcribe the order information from the order form to PayPal such that PayPal can generate and send out the invoice.
This is the third go-around with the project, having done Volume I and Volume II in 2021. For Volume I, we simply asked those who wanted the book to send an email to a special email address we set up and provide simple information: name, mailing address, email address, and how many books you want. While that simple task was executed flawlessly by many, a non-trivial number of members wanted something a bit more formal. So, for Volume II, we utilized an online forms process which collects the same simple information but puts it into a spreadsheet format for us, allow us to better keep track of everything. Even then, that stymied a few members, but absent a better solution (anyone have any ideas?) it is probably the best. The process was tested both for Volume II in 2021 and also just a few weeks ago for Volume III. In fact it was tested about 20 times from various locations around the globe, including from mobile devices and desktops, and it all worked perfectly.
When one or two order forms come in, and I'm at home and have the ability to send out invoices, they get done in a timely manner. However, when first announced and then after the first reminder last week, dozens upon dozens of order forms came in nearly simultaneously. As fast as I am I'm not "The Flash" and it does take time to do these. Many of them go quickly. A number of members, however failed to put essential information on the order form and this must be fetched in order to create the invoice.
I was completely caught up with all order forms and invoices the other day, and now just have a few more to process, until the final reminder goes out.
Here's one reminder now: the final date to order is 31-October. All invoices must be paid by 1-November. Unpaid invoices will be cancelled, and thus the order cancelled. We don't inventory the books.
