reassembling dashboard sequence.
« on: October 19, 2024, 18:26:34 »
Do I install the dash padding and wood bow before installing the rest of the dashboard parts?

Hi,
I would say yes because you need to fasten the wood bow from underneath. Be careful with the screws of the wood when you bring it into position. Don't scratch the padding.

This is a difficult sequence. I found that the only way to mount the wood trim was to unscrew the wood trim bolts, install the wood then re-screw from beneath. The top dash padding must be installed first.

I had windshield in the way when removing/installing wood. I had dash padding in place when removing and installing the wood.

Driver's side more difficult when fitting wood. Trying to pull down wood with screws may result in screws departing from wood. I made sure the plastic nuts go easily on the screws - it is a hard to reach area and they have to go on the screws easily when you have your hand up there. Alignment of wood bows was also tricky, do not forget the small pad that goes between the two bows.

this was a silly solution but when I installed the wood, I attached a nut fitting socket to a bendable shaft (i used a long spring) to be able to twist under the dash.  A real Rube-Goldberg tool but it worked for me

Much the same as for the soft top sides, I place a piece of plastic over the instrument binacle to as to prevent the stud from scratching it.
