Rear Axle mounting buffer kit help

I had a question regarding the rear axle mounting buffers. I am in the process of replacing mine but cant seem to figure out where the smaller rubber buffers go? What is the order to put them back in as I didn't have these smaller rubber buffers when I removed the original?

I ordered a kit from vintageeuro.com that came with the smaller ones but I noticed in the schematics (see 120) of other vendors that the smaller rubber buffers are not shown or offered.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, the rubbers you mentioned are No 143 in the drawing.


They are positioned on both sides of the hole in the center of the picture.

Thank you - the new rubber buffers (no 143 on the drawing) are making it difficult to put the original bolt back in the middle. I can't seem to squeeze it tight enough for the bolt to catch. I was thinking of buying a longer bolt?

I would not do that...
They should fit easily!
Is there a lot of tension that should be released by turning the axle (No 210) or can you align the rubbers easily in the middle?

Are the rubbers well orientated?

Perhaps on Brandini's car, since it was lacking those rubbers, a PO put in a shorter than stock bolt. So Halvor, if you can measure the length of yours, we can rule that one out.

Original 250SE bolt total length very close to 45mm (can’t get access to measure exactly). And yes it does appear very short, there’s only one turn of thread protruding. Perhaps you can compress with a couple of clamps to start the bolt into the thread.

Thank you Dave for confirming. Yes, the bolt is very short and I can't seem to get it to thread. I've tried a clamp but access is very difficult - unfortunately I do not have a lift in my garage. I'll get it eventually!

I would say the bolt is about 40 mm long.
