Mysterious Yellow Wire
«

HI, I'm trying to identify a yellow wire that passes through the firewall above the passenger side footwell. It has an in-line fuse on the side inside the car. There was a previous post (
https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=17749.0
) with someone asking the same question about the same wire but no one identified it, so I'm asking again with the hope that someone might know. Thanks!

Hello, it isn't shown on the wiring schematics, and the fact it has an inline fuse would indicate it's been installed later, perhaps by a dealer
Have a look on here, seems Blaupunkt radios used a yellow power wire with inline fuse

Thanks very much for replying. I do have an old Becker radio but it's working fine without that wire. Also that wire travels through the firewall and forward into a wire bundle, not to a fuse box. Still stumped. I will test it to see if it's live.

Was there a/c previously installed? this wire may have come from the under dash a/c unit to control the compressor clutch.

Yes. According to the data card there was once a/c, although it's been without it for the 20 years I've owned the car so I forgot. That makes sense. Thank you.
