Front License Plate Mount
« on: January 15, 2025, 22:35:59 »
The front bumper of a 1968 280SL provides mounting holes for a license plate but a Euro type long rectangle. I am getting my original California black plate refinished and was wondering if there is a commercially available bracket to mount a US type plate without having to drill holes on each side of the plate. Thanks in advance for any help.

Try the search function - I entered "front license plate mount" (without the quote marks) and got one page of hits - should give you and idea.

I highly recommend playing around with the search functionality as there is A LOT of information out there to help.

As a full member you have access to the tech manual.
Check out Pagoda Notes, Vol 1 No.1, Vol 9 No.2, and Vol 13 No.1

Authentic Classics has one listed - https://www.authenticclassics.com/230SL-250SL-280SL-Convertible-113-Chassis-s/1.htm?searching=Y&sort=13&cat=1&show=32&page=1&search=%20license
