Weather motivation
« on: March 29, 2025, 21:30:04 »
After a string of rainy and cloudy days, today was full of sunshine.   It motivated me to wash the Pagoda.  Maybe it’s my Southern European heritage but sunshine always gets me going.   I’ve also been slowly but surely detailing the engine bay

This is original paint and it’s phenomenal how well it’s held up after all these years.

Your Pagoda looks beautiful Len and nice work on the engine bay. You have motivated me to get out and dust off mine. I also second your comment about original paint. I too, am amazed how well mine has survived all these years.

Mine original paint was also well preserved under 11 layers of other paints.  ;D

I took my Pagoda out last Sunday following order of my Madame to bring some Chinese food form town. The car started immediately after some months of sleep and performed at her best. Very nice ride...

Len,

Very Nice! Mine is also a 568 Red.

May I ask how you cleaned up the valve cover, intake manifold and throttle body and what you used?

I had Metrix rebuild the engine so the valve cover was done by them.  The intake manifold and throttle body were cleaned with a solution of IPA (90%) cut with an equal volume of water.  I sprayed the alcohol, let it sit, agitated with small brush, then wiped with a microfiber cloth.  It took several tries.  Here’s some pix of what things looked like when I picked up the car from my dad’s garage.  Although it was a Jerry rigged mess, a thick layer of grim had protected the surfaces!

This takes time and I’m far from finished.  When motivated I’ll put in a little time. It’s incremental improvement.
