Haynes Manual Q - points gap

Hi,

Does anyone have their Haynes Manual to hand? Have managed to leave mine at home. Looking for the points gap value for w108 280 SE (M130) if anyone could be so kind.

Am finding values online and on here of 0.35mm, but think those might be US settings (can’t tell for sure) and this is a UK car. I believe US cars might have some emissions funk that means a different points gap?

According to the Haynes Manual for Mercedes-Benz 250 & 280, 1968 to 1972, 6-Cylinder sohc workshop manual the points gap should be 0.3mm or 0.012 inches with a dwell angle of 39 to 41 degrees.

If you have an aluminum distributor the dwell angle should be 30 degrees. Cast iron is roughly40 degrees.

Thank you! Not sure how to measure dwell angle though, my dad always just gapped his points so I’ll leave that to him!

I use a dwell meter that's on my distributor tester. You can buy a hand held one.

Indeed, dwell meters are cheap and give much more accurate settings.
