The wind screen is absolutely the best modification you can get. Don't wait to get one. They really make the car way more comfy except in blistering heat. The ladies love it, no more snarled hair. With that up and the windows up and top down with the heat on you can cruise in 40 degree weather snug and warm. Your own little planetarium with heat.

No US source. Shipment is about 10 to 14 days.
Only thing that comes close is a plex and it is a nightmare.
I sold my plex to a fellor with a 450sl. he was happy.
The new one from th UK is so much better

Can someone be kind enough to post pictures of the windscreen from Classic Additions and how it attaches to the car?   Does it really attach without any drilling?   I see some pictures on their website but those seem to be for more modern cars.  Thanks.

It attaches with brackets that are held in place by the seat belt (shoulder) bolts, and a portion of the fabric screen goes under and is locked in place by the softtop tonneau.

The screen does a fair job of reducing wind and noise, but is annoying in that at freeway speeds, the wind forces keep wanting to push it down.

Also, I suggest that you be sure you know what the total price in dollars is going to be. It is nominally 150 GBP + shipping, but when a credit card company figures the exchange rate, mine ended up at about $380. To add insult to injury, I paid $12 customs duty. IMHO I really don't think it is worth nearly$400

Gus,  thanks for the advice.  The price on the website now is £152 or US$289.30 + credit card, exchange rate charges and shipping.  It might end up costing close to the $400 you paid.  I agree with you.  I've always been baffled by the high prices.  I remember getting a quote from Star Quality or Miller for $600 or $800 I think.

What makes these so expensive?  It can't be due to the materials.

I was wondering if I should just buy acrylic or lexan sheets and go the way of the homemade wind screen like many of our more creative and dexterous members.  

I was looking to buy Acrylic or Lexan sheets when I came across this.  http://www.windbaffle.com/  It costs $209.  Has anyone used this product?

Also doesn't the wind screen make the speakers (if installed in the rear shelf as I have) even harder to hear?

The price seems to have increased  quite a bit since I purchase mine -
I did have the Lexon one and did not like it - sold it for $175.   #175 seems to what I paid + shipping to a fellow with 117 body. I replace the windscreen with Classic Additions and seems the cost was about 199.00 - $220 plus shipping.

Another solution would be to measure the distance on the current windsreen 90-95 SL's there have been several on EBay and been priced in the $200 range.  Do't known if they can be modified with a new bracket for the 113's.

As Ron  suggests, if the newer model ones offered on ebay are not overly long this may be the way to go. The brackets can easily be made up. In fact, brackets you make will probably be better than those furnished with the WS. A simplified description of the brackets is; they are a stretched out "Z" shape with holes in the ends. The WS "axle" goes thru one hole and and the seat belt bolt goes thru the other.

I noticed on the windbaffle site that the WS is attached to roll bars with elastic bands. Do you have a '69 or newer pagoda with headrests to secure it to in this fashion.

Can't talk about the plastic screens, but the classic additions screen would probably enhance sound from rear deck mounted speakers.

Gus: On the 113's you will note that they use a adjustable bar from the rt to the lt side with velcro and a adjustable vert. bar to stabalize.
This is also done on the 107's & 190's.
If you have a SLk, Boxer or  T3 then straps seemed to be used. It is more of universal fit - rather than custom

FWIW, I came across this site and there were three pictures of what I think is the Classic Addditions Screen on a 230SL.  I too want something that makes it a bit more comfortable for long haired guests.  The classic addition site only has small pics of the product on modern cars - so this was a big help.

That windscreen seems disproportionately high, compared to the windscreens Classic Additions has for other cars.  
I thought they'd be just slightly higher than the headrests, if present.   I don't think they're adjustable either.

I still haven't gotten around to ordering mine from the UK yet.

I agree, that the photos here look very disproportionate, not sure if it is an incorrect one or what, but mine looks fine and does not appear that high!

Keesing: The screen looks very nice-the plex glass screen that I refered to, if I remember correctly is somewhat taller. I have the Classic Addations and have had many favorable comments. Enjoy the no brezze!

Thanks for the pic!  I don't actually know if the pics I posted are from Classic Additions - it has the same style though and is also on 230sl with no headrests.  That's important to me because I have a 65 'sl with no headrests too.  

After telling a friend of mine about my search for a wind screen that looks right and doesn't require any permament mounting points, he said "just keep a few hair clips, scruchies(sp?), and a head scarf in the car, that's what I do".  Perhaps that's the best, and cheapest solution for my girlfriend; for my wife, well I'm not sure that will fly

I have a screen from Sisa Design in the Netherlands.  It is plexiglass (and thus almost invisible), and mounts by slipping under the softtop cover (absolutely no tools or modifications, on and off in seconds).  I have probably driven 10,000 miles with it on (including from California to Ohio and back), and have no complaints.  Here's a photo of my car with it on:

I purchased a Classic Additions wind deflector.  It arrived yesterday and is a great item.  My question is as to the fit.  It fits the compartment for the soft top, but it barely squeezes in behind the seat and headrest.  The seats are pushed all the way back (for necessary legroom) and as a result the back of the headrest pushes against the mesh material of the screen.  I'm concerned that it might damage the screen.  Anyone have a similar experience? If so any suggestions.  Thanks

I recieved my screen from Classic Additions today and have the same problem.  The simple fix is to move the seats forward but that will make driving a bit uncomfortable for me.  Does anyone have a solution for this?  Is there another product out there that takes this into account?

Just resurrecting this topic after the weekend

I had the Cabrio.nl screen but binned it as it vibrated like mad and never actually stayed up. It also sat on top of my kinder seat and scraped the leather. In Alsace, it was only Tom's car that had both a screen and kinder seat and his was the MB genuine version which IIRC is one that clips to the soft-top compartment lid (and so lifts with it)

Has anyone else had both a screen and kinder seat, and if so which one.?

There was a suggestion that the MB screen is NLA and was $$$ - 113 860 0074?
