interior color
« on: October 24, 2005, 17:07:41 »
Hi, I have black 230 SL with white interior, all leather.  The seats need replacing, I can't seem to find off white original leather seats.  Can you help me?  Thank you Diane :)  :) update, still can't find, cream is not it, I need off white  The original leather from center console I was able to loosen and there was a number stamped on it 113042 271
??????  To update John at German Auto Top in North Hollywood sent me samples of hides and I found a real close matching color.  He is going to make the seats for me at a very reasonable price.  Thank you Everyone.
 :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :) Diane

Looks like parchment is the closest that GAHH.com has:

Would you have the Data card or Trim code??
Black [ 040} on a 230sl came with 4 different whiteish leather interiors:

 Trim 209- Creame
      213 -Antique light Yellow
      221- White Gray
      230- Eggshell

Here are the Benz designation #s for those colors in leather.
Eggshell-1112
White/Gray-5102

Both of these are sampled here

http://www.worlduph.com/SAMPLES/mbz1966.htm

Give those numbers to some suppliers and see what they come up with...

The is also Parchment 8014, but that did not come out until the 280sl [ .044 chassis]
...beautiful color , if you were to do the whole interior over.

PS Info:
If you have original rugs, I can also give you your Trim Code.

If the rugs are Cream, then the seats are White/Gray and the trim code is 221
If the rugs are Black, then the seats are Eggshell and the trim code is 230.
If you find this deduction to be true , then keep that info B/C  the only other way to get a trim code is by writing to the Mercedes Clssic Center for the Data Card info...
If this does not relate to your interior combo, then it may have been a special order , which would require Data Card info for that specific  car.

Thank you, the lightest color at the mercedes interior link you sent me is parchment which is light tan, the whites they show are no longer available.  Mercedes USA did e mail me back this morning and told me it did come in a light eggshell, but I still can't find that leather.  Thank you again Diane

I know they are NLA from World, I just used their site to have you identify which  color you have .. once we get that , I may be able to tell you where to find it.
Give Gahh a call .. they sometimes have the correct colors even though they are not shown on their website.
The Eggshell is Benz 1112. if that is what you think you have using the World site as reference.......

Hi again, I called them today again.  The lightest leather they have is parchment which is light tan.  Any of the other colors they show on their website they are unavailable.  My seats are off white and nobody seems to have it.  Thank you again.  Diane

Are you sure parchment is a light tan? I always thought it was an off-white.

Thank you for your time.  I ordered the seat covers twice, thinking the first time they made a mistake.  254, light tan, even though on the internet it looks off white.  Diane

If you're replacing the seat covers why not cut out a swatch and send it to World or GAHH. They may have something that would match it better than the stock parchment.  They carry quite a selection of various leathers for different cars.

Thank you, I sent sample already, no off white available, at first they told me car did not originally come in black, must have been repainted and leather sprayed.  But after getting information from mercedes usa this am - car did come in black with light cream (off white) interior.  Just can't

I've seen two SLs with an off-white leather interior. Both were aftermarket replacements and I know who installed each one. One was done by Hatch and Sons in MA and the other was done by Wolgang Ritter at Wolfgang's in Tenafly, NJ. One of those people can tell you where they sourced the off-white leather for their clients.

Keep in mind that not everyone at these interior shops knows their stuff -- I had a debate with someone at GAHH who told me that there was only one shade of red leather in a Pagoda SL and that's simply not true. There was red, light red, wine red, and rusty red. (You usually see light red today.)

Diane,
I know there are colors that are not avialable at this site , but they are available at other shops .

My question to you is and has been" ...

" Is your color ANY of the ones at this site ???"

http://www.worlduph.com/SAMPLES/mbz1966.htm

.. forget if they say not available , I would just like to know if you see your color anywhere on these charts..as these charts are ALL colors/codes of leather  produced for 230sl.

hi, it looks like 121 - I have a pic of my seats, the seats and interior I would say is light ivory.  But parchment also looks light on the internet but when received it was tan.  If I sent a digital pic of my seat it might help.  I e mailed a couple of upholstery shops back east but no answer yet.  Thanks again.  Diane

<<hi, it looks like 121 ->>

 OK,  that may help..

That 121 code is Creame 2403 and that trim code came with brown
[ 6454] carpet, but that is an MB Tex trim code, not leather.
Are you sure about the leather ??? .. many that have Tex think that it is actually leather.

In the leather Creame , that would be code 209.  That also came with the same brown carpet [ 6454]. But the Creame was color 1060.

These are the Factory Original combinations and correct colors.. if these do not fit to what you have , than you do not have original trim.

Diane -

If this will help, here are two shots of my original 121 Cream Tex 230SL interior.  The first was taken in direct afternoon sunlight, the second was on an overcast day.

Is seats leather?  Mine look the same I think.  121 looks closest to mine except mine is leather.  Still haven't found the seats in correct color in leather.  Will try to attach picture.  Thank you Diane
