Firewall Padding Installation

I purchased Firewall Padding two years ago, and just got around to installing it today.
There are 2 pieces, a smaller piece that fits on the drivers side (LH Drive car), and a longer piece for the passenger side.
The snaller piece fits perfectly, but the larger piece does not have the cutouts in the right position , ie: the cutout for the ID plate is off by 3-4 inches.
Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be for another year 280SL or other vehicle?
It was purchased from Ray at SL Classics, that is no longer in business, he moved to SL Barn??
Any ideas?

The aftermarket pads I got from MillerMBZ.com were close but not exact.  I had to do a bit of trimming and there were no provisions for air conditioner hoses.  There is a cut for a firewall VIN plate that my '68 does not have.  They are intended to be a "one-size fits all" item but they aren't perfect for any of them.

For the A/C holes, I used a hole saw attachment for my electric drill.  I marked the spot and punched a hole where center should be, then gently used the drill to cut through the top side of the pad.  It worked quite well.  Trimming the edges was done with a killer pair of surgical scissors I acquired a while back.

The aftermarket pad is not ideal, but it beats the cracked and flaking original that it replaced.
