My local workshop informs me to use a lead additive for my 1969 280 sl. Any views on this as this is no longer easily available in the market? What octane rating fuel is recommended for the car. Thanks

You dont need a lead additive on these cars. The valve seats are hard enough from new.
Use the highest octane rating you can find. You may need to retard the ignition if it pings !
