As promised, I am back with a recap of today's events concerning the fashion photo shoot using my car here in south Florida. As many know "Cooper Film Cars" posted (on this forum back on the 19th) a message stating that they were looking for a vintage Mercedes convertible for a photo shoot in Miami today. After several e-mails back and forth, I decided I was game.

At the end of last week, I received a contract and a certificate of insurance covering the shoot. It covered my car as a "prop" vehicle. Those who read the previous post know that information received ahead of time called for "still" shots only and since I was invited to stay for the duration, I felt confident everything would be fine with the car.

My wife and I along with my 113 arrived at the designated location in the Coral Gables section of Miami around noon. We quickly found the mansion on Biscayne Bay where the event was already taking place. I was greeted in the driveway by the contacts I was assigned and told that they were finishing some shots in the back pool deck, then they were going to break for lunch and get right to the pics of the model with the car. We were then invited to join the crew for lunch. After about 90 minutes or so, I was introduced to several members of the crew including the photographer. Every individual I came in contact with individual was professional and curteous. Many of the people came up to me and asked questions and offered positve comments about the car. The photographer made it a point to check with me and have me move the car personally to get all of the initial photos lines up. He then asked permission if he could take several shots of the model driving down the driveway and feeling at ease with how things had gone so far, I accepted. I believe that there were probably 100 or so pics taken of the model and the exterior and interior of the car. They gave me several polaroids to take home. They also allowed me to take several pics with my own camera.

I will post several shots that I took in our gallery as soon as I get them all downloaded. In addition, when the ad comes out in print, I will post again to tell you where they can be found. I dont have any information on that yet

Beautiful, reminds me of my own "South Florida days" (1982 through 1991) and how many Pagodas I saw tooling around there in Boca and (West) Palm Beach. The perfect natural habitat for a W113 ...

The location was at a private residence in Coral Gables not far from Viscaya.

Glad it went well.... I must say it's pretty cool to know that they chose to use the image of a Pagoda. It's casual yet elegant, sporty but classy, rich but approachable.

What a perfect car!

Wasn't it Road and Track that said something like it's a style that "it's casual but you could drive to the White House for dinner in it without feeling embarassed"

Nice job, those will certainly be some nice pics that can do nothing but enhance the value of that sweet ride.

Ironically I would have taken the gig if you did not speak up. I have been looking for an excuse to bring my car down from Atlanta to my current work/home here in Boca. My '64 is white, black leather, Euro headlights. Small world,

Your white Pagoda looks great and definately improves the setting of that house! I'm glad the shoot went well and the production crew showed such respect for you and your car.

I fully agree with Ken G. This is just a perfect choice for a fashion photo. I got to thinking about what might be other options, and truly none work, perhaps an E-type, but a muscle car NOT!, a Ferrari, too over the top, Rolls, Bentley, again too much. Even a 107 would not have the presence like the 113. Super stuff.

The homeowner had a black Maserati and a Lincoln Navigator. Rest assured, neither had the presence of the 113!

Wow looks like a cool location and setup, very GQ! Any idea when the shoot will go to print? Definitely will be getting a mag or two to add to the rest of my 113 docs.
btw I have silver pagoda you think a pink tie will go with that?

Terrific photos and it sounds like a pleasant experience all around. Glad it worked out.

Ralph Lauren is always carting out examples from his personal collection for his photo shoots. I've seen lots of Gullwings, a new MacLaren, lots of old English cars, etc. Perhaps it was more cost-effective for them to get a local car than to transport something.
Or was this an advertisement or an editorial shoot for a magazine that featured his clothing? Just curious.

My arrangement was with Cooper Film Cars (the group that posted on this subject in the first place) so I did not deal with those producing the shoot directly. CFC says that they should get me info about the publication of the pics ahead of time, maybe in a few weeks or so. Since there were a number of "shoots" going on that day (different models, clothes, settings), My guess this will be used in some type of catalog or flier that comes in the mail, but its anybody's guess at this point.

Cooper said that they have a white 113 for sale currently and that if I had not stepped up, they probably would have shipped that from Manhattan and back. All in all, going with my car was a MUCH less costly route. No regrets, though.

The pics I posted included the model, not me so I guess you could say "rather RL". Interestingly, he and I look alot alike except for the fact I am about a foot shorter, homelier and no British accent. Other than these facts, we could be twins

PS: Check out my earlier post with the attachment labeled "MB PLR 9A". That is actually a shot from the photographer's polaroid (more clothes, less car). The first three were from my camera (more car).

Had a nice surprise in the mail last night, the Polo catalog with this 113 on the cover! Smart people that they are, the shots of the house, ocean, and boat were relegated to the inside.
