engine bay/reassembly
« on: March 31, 2006, 16:27:09 »
I am restoring a 1964 230sl and after taking many digital pictures I have lost them or missplaced, I just can't find them now and need help!  anyone with any pictures that could help me in the re-assemply process I am in dire need.  specifically I could use a picture of the antisway bar and it's orientation in relatioship to the front suspension setup.  The engine bay is ready to be re-assembled but I want to make sure everything goes back to it's right place.  I know this is just the begining of my question I hope the forum can help  Thanksssssss

Angelo,
Welcome to the group.  You've come to the right place.  If the links from Dalton and Merrill aren't quite enough, just ask.  One of us can shoot something for you.  I'll have my car on a lift tomorrow and I'll try to shoot some extra shots just in case.

if you took pictures I would appreciate if you could post them for me to print.  Also if you could some pictures of the engine bay it would be awesome so that i could have a map of parts layout and locations Thanks everyone

Angelo,

You are probably MUCH more experineced at car restoration & repair than I am, but I can't imagine trying to "restore" a car without any manuals or technical literature.  I recommend buying several books shown here:
http://www.sl113.org/publications.asp

You should have:
- Mercedes Benz Shop Manual (BBB = Big Blue Book)
- Mercedes Benz Spare Parts List
- Haynes Manual

These are the basic books and will help you complete 99% of the work ahead of you.
