Hello Friends.
Techno Classica Record ... 61 pagodas stood for the sale.
The Price-Record: A 280 SL Pagoda for 155,000 Euros.
I think it so like with shares. The prices increase and the whole illusion increases one morning past.
Detlef, Bad Homburg (Germany)
P.S. The Car is sold to Japan

That is quite a price. Yes indeed. If my math is correct:
155,000 x 1.2106 = $187,643.

price is outragous.....last year i was offered a rebuilt pagoda for 125k euro. It was rebuilt by mercedes germany celebrating 40 yrs etc. The sheik who owned it told his employee (my pal) it was surplus to requirements and shift it. A buyer in Switzerland bought it. The same Sheik has a wife who got an airbus 330 as a pressie. She went to Hamburg to pick up the machine and hated the interior. Aircraft sits on a ramp somewhere.
For you and me where our beloved pagodas have hurt our wallets, some folk see them as disposables.
Rant over!

The listed price of these cars are not generally what they exchange hands for. The gold one sold but what did it sell for? I looked at the two pagodas and the 190sl and found many discrepencies and bad workmanship. The paint on the 190sl was supposed to be the same code number DB180 as the 230SL and two 300sl's, but the 190sl was painted by the Falbech centre was stikingly lighter and not correct compared to the other three. More like the modern silver metallic. These cars were not 100% authentic. Who know's but the restoration may have been subcontracted out to different restorers and every restorer have their own concept of restoration. I have further photos of the pagodas on my website
http://www.190sl.co.uk/newsessen06.htm
and
http://www.190sl.co.uk/gallery
. The high list price has to do with supply and demand rather than the quality of the restoration.
