I just tried again, and went to the home page, and then at the bottom of the screen was a listing of the various automobile makes. I was not requested or required to log in? I clicked on the MB link and got about 70 pages of references. According to the article in Hemmings MB was the third most sited make, behind Ford and`Chevy.

I use IE 6.0 and couldn't get past the log in page either.

I was able to watch "The Door In The Floor" over the long weekend.
It was a good movie but quite depressing.  It seems all the movies I've seen that feature Pagodas have owners that are dysfunctional or depressed.  I guess things went downhill after Oddjob.

Just NetFlixed the made-for-HBO movie "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers"; many cool vintage automobiles, but the scene in which Charlize Theron -- as Britt Ekland -- peels out in a grey 280 sl hits a lot of fantasy buttons for me!

We were watching a new dvd release of "Grand Prix" the other night and there is a Pagoda in the background of one scene, almost out of focus.  If you haven't seen this movie recently, or not at all, some of the photography is spectacular.

Regarding "The Last King of Scotland" it is actually very funny, because my pagoda was first sold to somebody in Centralafrica, not far from Uganda. So maybe my pagoda has been involved in a similar carchase, with mad goverment-hired-killers with guns chasing it. BEcause it is such a brilliant handler I imagine it escaped safely...i.e. it has no visible bulletholes....;-)

'' The Pursuit of Happyness ''
You have to be quick & have your finger ready to pause. A black Pagoda driven by a man wearing a hat drives past in the background while Will Smith's character is in conversation with another man.

On AMC right now....  "The Reluctant Astronaut" with Don Knotts, 1967...

A short 3-4 min scene with Don Knotts getting a ride from an actor with a 113.  The 113 looked brand new!  Fun watching and wondering how these cars ran when new.....

i haven't read all the messages on this posting (there are so many) but i'll chance repeating someone else and mention "Die Mommie Die".  Great title, pretty bad movie, but Charles Busch is in a beautiful white pagoda in the beginning of the movie.

Not a movie; but just saw a commercial for some makeup (I think) with Diane Keaton getting into a 280SL.

Wanted to add to this list of movies thread a movie I saw recently.  It was on the Lifetime Movie Network (LMN) on Aug. 5, at 10:00 pm it is called DYING TO BELONG staring Hilary Swank, made in 1997.  First 5 minutes of movie show Hilary being driven to first day at college by her movie mom in a blue/blue 280SL.

So, while watching Hannity last night, an MB commercial came on. Ends with a new model car crashing through the Classic Center window I think. Glimpses of all sorts of earlier Benzes -- and I may have seen a Pagoda at the very end... Anyone else see that commercial?

More than a few times.  It's the new E class commercial, and a good one at that!  Shows a number of classics highlighting the MB heritage.

I've seen the commercial several times--but try as I might have not seen a Pagoda...maybe someone with TIVO can do it is slomo and see it?

I did notice the disclaimer as the new E-Class goes through the glass to "take its rightful place" next to the rare and exotics that the drive through the glass was simulated! :D

Well, right at the very end as the Black car spins into place -- I may have spotted the tail end of a light mint green or silver 113 on the far left.

(You're right Peter -- I need to get a life!)  ::)

Just saw it - it looks like a silver with hardtop in place in the back left at the very end of the ad.

I saw it too.  Had to rewind to make sure.  But what is the crash through the window all about?  I guess I must be getting old.  I could'nt understand the VW adds for the last 10 years either.

In the hopes of spotting a Pagoda I watched a Robert Redford movie "Downhill" circa 1969. He played a US Olympic skier in which training as well as the event taking place in Zurich.  I was unable to spot one. :(  The movie itself wasn't too bad.

Just to take up some space here and to enjoy a quiet moment:

So Hauser, your report on this Topic which is Pagoda Movie Sightings is that you watched a movie and did not see a Pagoda? Do I have that right? I guess things are a little hot and quiet for you in Florida in Mid-August.

Well, maybe this will start a trend where we can all post a message here about each film we see that does not have Pagoda. Then by some loopy logic, we'll know that a movie not listed either has not been seen or has a Pagoda in it. Am I on the right track here?

No, here's a better idea. We can start a Topic: Pagoda Non-Sightings, or maybe Pagodas I Have Not Seen.  We can messages about films, magazines, TV shows, shopping malls, daily trips, to report that we did not see a Pagoda. Not bad, huh?

Jusy kidding Hauser, always good to hear from you.

At the risk of boring you all again, and for all the new members on the site:
Internet Movie Car Database, Mercedes section. Then click on W113 to spot 124 movie or clip sightings of the Pagoda. Should keep you busy on a rainy afternoon!

Richard I know you're just kidding.   ;) ;)  However a movie circa 1969 in Zurich I would expect to see at least a glimpse of a Pagoda! :o :o

I'd say the Pagoda in the last scene of the M-B "Crashing the Museum" E-Coupe ad is light blue metallic.

(One of the two Creative Directors on the Mercedes advertising account owns a light metallic blue 280SL, so that would make sense.)
