Welcome Ian, glad to see you on board.

Dan is certainly a big contributor here and there are many others with a wealth of experience willing to help and answer any questions.

We love to see photos here so put up a photo of your car and interior, we would love to see it.

Welcome Ian to our International Pagoda SL Group, nice to see another Pagoda owner in our area. Yes Dan is as Garry pointed out very helpful and as a great deal of Members here very knowledgeable about our fine cars. We have another member here in London, Ontario (Peter, [aka] pj ). Peter is having his car completely restored. Perhaps when he is done (he hopes before the fall) the three of us can have a little cruse around the city.

I am in the middle of moving (downsizing) I should be done by mid May. Drop me a PM with your address and contact info, I'll drop by to have a look at your Pagoda.

Post a picture or two here we all like to see photos, if you need help let us know.

Thanks Deiter. I'll try and post some pics soon, probably won't be the best as the car is in the garage awaiting windshield replacement. Looking forward to a warm spring!

Hi Ian, great looking car, nice interior too. I think I'd Dan, Peter, you and I can get together some day when Dan makes a trip to the city to deliver or pick up parts from the machine shop he uses that be great. I can see it now our four cars parked side by side (gold, red, white and blue) will turn quite some heads as we make our way to the coffee shop :)

Best,

Hi Everyone!

I am a new member in Westchester County, New York, USA. I love vintage cars and have been buying and selling them for about fifteen years. I have recently bought an "older restoration" 1966 230SL with manual transmission. Was looking for a car for about 18 months and this one is perfect! The restoration was very well done in the nineties and, from what I can tell, barely driven afterwards. (Has about 4000km on the clock.) Last year, the car was gone over by a specialist: all rubber items were changed out for new, including tires, the radiator was re-cored, new upholstery and carpet, changed fluids, and a new battery. I drove the car on Sunday for about 150 miles and it drives like a dream! Lovin' it -- here are a couple of photos I took:

This forum is the best -- I have been consulting with it on everything that I do. Most recently, I designed a rigging for hoisting the roof single-handedly. I ordered the various parts and when it is installed (and working LOL) I will post my "solution" to this problem.
Thanks for everything so far,
Jim

@Jonny B I took the car for a long run this past Sunday from my home in New York into Connecticut -- found an office building that had the right look and there were no cars out front (because it was Sunday!) The bonus was that there was a 50 inch high concrete planter that I was able to stand on to get the shots from above . . . the planter runs all the way around the building . . . you can see it on the right side of this shot:

Hi,
I just purchased a 1971 280SL with matching numbers, original sales documents (California car) and all the other original books, instructions, etc. that came with the car. It is signal red (although originally tobacco brown) and a real eye catcher. I got thumbs up just driving it the 3 miles from where the carrier delivered it to my house. Being the anal person that I am I have already made a list of things that I plan to do to make it "perfect".

I previously owned a 230SL which I undertook to restore. It became such a huge project that I got burned out and eventually sold it to someone else to finish. I lost a lot of money on that whole ordeal  :( .

I am interested in meeting others in my area (Camano Island, WA) who own a pagoda and in learning as much as I can from the forums, etc. from the Pagoda SL Group.

Welcome to the Group Bob, you certainley will get a lot of help from experienced Members of our Group.

In a few days I will post you our Welcoming Package, it will include a letter from our President, 2 windshield stickers of our logo and a copy of our Pagoda World Magazine.

Is there a specific major area you like to address on your car (the list you made). I have several PW issues and would be happy to select one that discusses your area of concern, if I have it. Why not edit your post above add the punch list and I will check if any of the issues are addressed in the PW issues I have.

Now that you are a Full Member you also have full access to our Pagoda Notes that have been published over the years. I'm certain that many areas of your punch list are discussed.

Here is the link to the Index ----> https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=16123.0

Good luck,

Dieter

Hi, just like to introduce myself as I've just started the search for a Pagoda! I'm based in England but off to the States for a few weeks, so just thought I'd mention it in case anyone had anything I might be interested in. Ideally looking for a manual in a shade of blue, but obviously like to hear about anything that might be available.

Looking for a driver level car, ideally something useable and reliable, but I don't mind a little tatty! So not a basket case or a concours winner then!

A little about myself, I'm recently retired so time to play with my cars. Into Porsche's in a big way, but think the w113 is one of the most beautiful cars ever and a perfect choice for my wife, what a great husband I am!

Hope you don't mind this as a first post, and look forward to contributing more to the forum in the future.

I'll post in the wanted section as well if that's ok.

Thanks Mike

Welcome to the group Mike.  We have a good  number of members from the UK and I am sure you will get to know some of them if you follow the forum regularly. Our forum has a welcoming and helpful atmosphere with members providing assistance on most any matter you can think of concerning our cars.

Best of luck on your search for a car.  If you find a car in the US and need pre-purchase inspection assistance, our members have contacts throughout the country and may be able to offer suggestions.

Again welcome to the group.

Hello all,

This is my first post after recently joining...

I am not an owner of a pagoda but I do work on them for a living.

I work for a company based in Cardiff that has been run by a father and son for the past 20 years or so.
We are predominately 190SL specialists but we have looked after many pagodas over the years, and we have recently been carrying out more and more full restorations.

The most recent being a RHD 280SL auto and a RHD 230SL manual.

I have been working for the company since before my apprenticeship at 16, 7 years later I'm still hooked on mercs. (I have a 230 w114 myself.)

I'm by no means an expert on the w113's but I do hope to offer advice where I can and hopefully learn a lot more.

Indeed, welcome Casey! As Cees indicated,  there is a lot of information to be found on this site. And lots of folks ready to assist.

Be sure to make use of the main search function (the one in the line with Home, Help, etc. That function can be used to search the entire forum. The one at the top under the logo only searches the forum you are currently reading.
