Hi Aeneas, I reccommend Tower Bridge Diesels who are Bosch Specialists, despite their name they have the equipment for these petrol Injector pumps and are recommeneded by The Mercedes-Benz Club, 0044 20-7231-1488

Hi aeneas, I dont think you can find out what position iots in at this stage, other here may know !

I do know one of our members got Tower Bridge toi do his pump about 18 months ago, although someone mentioned that they may not be doing them any longer !

Give them a call is the best bet !

Other than that phone Tom Heaney in N.I. he will know someone for sure !   8)

What problems are you having anyway ??

The phone number of Han Aus at H & R  in Bohemia, NY is 631-589-1600.  The Area Code changed to 613 about two years ago.  A friend of mine spoke to him on Monday, he's still very much in business.

thanks all.  problem.   car running like it was not firing on all cylinders, even though it would rev up the range but still missing.thought it would be ignition,so new points, condenser, re set timing no change.switched coil, dist and ballast resistor from 2nd car, no change.disconected over run fuel cut off sol, bottom sol no change. plenty fuel to and return from injection pump and to cold start sol.disconnected lines from injectors to see if fuel coming to injectors.yes but amounts seemed so small that i thought no way is the pump working correctly.put on injector to fuel lines to observe if any spray, none. it must be the pump.decided to take out pump.this is a task that must rank as the most difficult of all.made some local calls here in ireland but neg on all fronts for repairs.one knowlegable bloke asked me did i try a new set of plugs????? .no i did'nt as the plugs looked exellent.he said these cars are notorious for fouling the plugs.had a look at the injector internals ,checked te rack etc. put back in injector(4hrs work), new set of plugs,re-set points and timing.after some time engine fires and runs smoothly.i don't know what solved the problem ,but i can assure u the plugs discarded appeared perfect propper gap, some black soot but nothing alarming, could be seen sparking when removed and earthed.  thanks for all the help. contacted Tower but on holidays for another 2 weeks. i hope car will keep running and fault wont reacur.

Hello Aeneas,

Glad your fixed, and you learned a lot along the way! Sorry it was soo much work.

Yes one two and even three sets of new spark plugs are inexpensive, compared top one injection pump rebuild!

Here in Ireland there are not many folk who have EVER worked on these cars, and of those who have, most make them worse !

Aeneas do you mind letting me know who you used ?

I am in the process of repairing a 280SL, currently only running on gas (liquid gas not petrol)and I will be converting it back to petrol for its owner !

I think the thing with spark plugs is once they have fouled up they are pretty much useless after that, despite how they look. I dont know why that is but on these cars, plugs and leads are the first things I would look for, back to basics I guess !

Anyway glad its running for you now !

Regards,
Ben in Ireland.

Okay thanks...........I think you mean Terry Jackson !

He does know these cars and had a good reputation for selling/repairing 60's era Mercedes but I think he is more into selling 911's now and he does not want any mechanical work, or at least he does it when he feels like it !

Thanks again !
