Hood (bonnet) hinge square nut
« on: July 11, 2006, 23:58:44 »
Hi
Anybody who knows how to replace the internal square nut in each corner of the front hood. One of the square nut is missing and makes i differcult to keep the alignment. Was thinking of making  a small hole on the side facing at the center, but will it be possible to place a nut in the location close to the outer edge. Anybody that have the same problem and solved it.?

thanks 91lux,Norway

Hi

Thanks to all advices from the group. I made a square hole from inside, took out the original fixture and was able restore the holding function by welding and attach new square nuts maintaining the adjustable slide. The hole I sealed of by a rubber grommet.

Very common problem on Pagoda hoods/bonnets. I'm told you should use a "self-tapping" screw of a suitable diameter if the hole has been stripped.

You could probably fabricate something like this yourself:

I had this problem a few years ago,I drilled a small hole near the site just big enough for my finger to fit in and hold a new nut at then back the fitted a plastic plug to finnish it off
