Did any of the 280 SLs come with power seats, or is it possible to put a power seat in a 280 SL?

I doubt you could fit the mechanics to an original (looking) seat. Although Mechatronik have put SLK seats in their "new" SL

I am a wheelchair user and getting the seat pulled forward so I can get my chair in behind the seat is difficult.

Yes, that would be very difficult!  Not only with where the seat controls are, but the height of the parcel shelf behind the seat.  Do you own a Pagoda now or are you considering ownership?

I am considering owership.  I found 1984 280 SL and everything works for me but the seat.  Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Sorry YobigE...

to hear that.
However, we are mostly (= all) interested in the Mercedes W113 chassis type which was built between 1963 and 1971.

Your 1984 is a R 107, the succeeding chassis after the W 113(BTW, in 1984, wasn't there already the 300 SL instead of 280 SL ??).
Anyway, maybe the latest R107 offered this option.
You might want to look on webpages for that car as well. I don't know of any; just try and google around.

Good luck!

I believe that Dorian, who runs the Pagoda113 site, also has a 107 site; it should be at: http://sl107.com

Thanks.  I realized there was a difference, but I have had no luck, so I am looking at all possibilities.  My search continues.  When do you think the power seat was put into an SL?

I did a quick search on the 107 site for electric seats and this would suggest they came in with the 129, not even in the later 107s

I've asked on the MB UK club forum when they first appeared in the SL. If someone on there can't answer, I'll be amazed. :D

You could also call Roy Spencer (http://www.oursl.com/contact.htm) and ask him whether he knows of seat conversions for a 107-type 280SL.
