Thoughts on vacumming/cleaning vent hose
« on: November 09, 2006, 06:21:08 »
Car has spent a good bit of time outside in New England and has accumulated a significant amount of leaves and debris in vent hoses which now blows itself into passenger compartment. Any thoughts on how to clean these hoses? tools, access, methods, etc.

thanks!!

Chris,
Remove the air scoop under the windshield (two screws on the outside to remove and 3 or 4 thru the scoop to loosen), the fresh air flap ( remove one of the hinges - 2 bolts - and slide out after disconnecting cable), and the filter screen.
Clean out all the leaves and debris in the airbox. Also ensure the 2 water drains are clear.

Chris, Naj,
You can also clean the side vents by looking under the dash and removing the 2 phillips screws holding each black plastic box to the metal vent tubes.  These supply the fresh air direct from the outside and provide no heat.  Also follow the directions that Naj posted.
