Good eye Dick! A couple of those shots remind me of some detective show... (perhaps even, the "Streets of San Francisco" -- anyone remember that one?)

P. S. keep your eyes peeled in your own backyard this weekend, and you'll likely see another one!  8)

I have been in Las Vegas on business (no, really) for the past three days and spotted two pagodas. A green car that looked to be a later version and an early (no headrests) ivory one like mine. Neither show up on the Frappr map.

I see several every day. A dark maroon one, a white one and a silver one. If I lift a few car covers I can see a cream one too.

The red one? I don't see ever.

Dear Cess,
In Connecticut (US), only saw 1 other Pagoda in 4 yeras, other than a friend's. We're alone!

One treat several summers ago...was taking a weekend drive, not really paying attention, and was honked at, and passed by, a Gullwing! Talk about rare!

Hi Guys,

Finally!!!!  I've never seen another Pagoda in all my years in Sarasota, though I know they must be here.

Two days ago I parked Carling in the warm Sarasota sun in a nearby shopping center.  I was barely out the door when a man came striding towards me saying what a nice car I had.  I fired my automatic sassy answer, "Well, you can't have her!" and he said he didn't need her--he had one too.  He pointed out his '70 ivory with brown soft top parked a few rows away.

As he had an Ohio plate, I asked him if he knew Joe, and he did, and lots of other people too.  He handed me his card--Bill Sgro--he owns a new spa right in front of Carling's parking place. Small world!

I see another pagoda every day since the car is parked along a street I use to go to work. Other than this pagoda I see one maybe once per quarter.

Cheers

Here in the land of pickup trucks and muscle cars I only see an occassional 113.  An attorney has a cream 230Sl which he stores in a warehouse.  It is in great shape except for a lot of dust and may be up for sale soon.  An LSU professor has a rough red car.  The most interesting one is a 1970 280 SL that a car dealer bought.  It was black, auto, air.  When he got it wanted it painted and then discovered all of the rust.  New panels, red paint and Rhino Liner in the wheel wells and trunk was his fix.  A non MB tex interior followed.  By the time this was fininshed the engine was frozen.  After an engine swap, the injector pump was trashed by the rust in the tank.  He got a new tank and pump. There was also new soft top, rubber seals and chrome bits.  $35,000 later he has a car that may be worth $10,000 and has been sitting on his used car showroom for the last five years.  Just proves that car dealers aren't necessarily knowledgeable about cars.

Saw a so-so white 230SL passing through Boise a couple of weeks ago.  First time I've seen another W113 here in a couple of years, maybe longer.

Well since this resurfaced...Some may recall that since this thread began I have mentioned the "sitting Pagoda" I passed often on my way to work. Anyway, after years of just sitting in that service station with a for sale sign on it -- gathering dust and other elements -- its gone. I am betting somebody got it for between 5-9K. It was worth it I think.

A friend commented to me that he had seen one in my neighborhood sitting in a garage.  I finally found the car and owner (since 1970) of a 68 280sl while walking by his house.  The car was piled with boxes and appeared very unused but unharmed.  It is light blue (not my favorite color) and I would guess that it could be available based on its lack of use.  If anyone was interested I would be glad to pass it along.

Hi Guys,

We had taken the eType to the Lido for a little beach time, and on the way back through the Circle, we spotted a white Pagoda coming towards us, driven by a 60-something lady.  I waved valiently at her, but no response.  It's nice to know that Carling has another sister in Sarasota--we met an ivory 250 a few weeks ago just down the road whose owner knows Joe.  I also encountered a 500SL driver who admired Carling and is in the market for a Pagoda, and I gave him the forum business card.  Pagoda World, keep those cards coming, because I'm using them up fast!

Am I the only owner who just strolls out to the garage occasionally to say hello to my Carling?

I saw a metallic red/palomino 280SL today in Ansley Park (Atlanta).  We honked and waved to each other.  It would have been fun to stop and talk but I was rushing to an Easter party.

Hi Guys,

On my last day in Sarasota, not only did I see the ivory Pagoda that knows Joe, but I saw a maroon/tan with hard top.  We were waiting at a 90-degree angle to each other at stop lights downtown.  He waved at me as I rounded the corner in front of him.  That makes 3 so far!

I spotted a deep brown 280SL with the side reflectors and light tan interior and a hardtop mounted in the Wheaton, Maryland area last Sunday.  Wonder if it belongs to anyone on the list here?

Driving back from Paris to Amsterdam today after spending a long weekend (including a day at Disneyworld Paris), I spotted a red Pagoda on the highway in Northern France, going the other way. A bit later, in Belgium, we saw an Aston Martin DB 2, along with a couple of other nice cars (TR 6 among them). Then, later on, spotted a bunch of Porsche 911's.

I just had a 3 day break at Peregian Beach on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
Thursday 11th May, I was driving to my motel and there coming towards me was a 230SL (RHD mirror) being driven by a blonde woman who was a bit startled to see another Pagoda.
We waved and continued on. (do Pagoda people wave to each other?)
The car looked to be in great condition with a cream colour soft top  and a red interior.
I never see another Pagoda unless there is a MB Qld Club run.

In my nearly 20 years in the metro Detroit area, I have seen two (2) 113's, other then "the usual gang" of ones I know about around here, including Norton, Mike Webster, Roman, etc.  I'm sure others have passed but I wouldn't miss too many...I've had my eyes on these cars since the 1960's of course!

I would hazard a guess that many of these mysterious 113's we see buzzing by with people we don't know might very well be this "silent majority" of owners who know very little of us here in cyberspace.

That's cool Cees. I used to drive a DB 2. It was the only one I ever saw. A very cool car, and fast. Such a problem if it needed a significant part.
