Thanks Peter
I appreciate you trying to look out for us. I had already adopted most of these pointers you suggest, but you'll agree that they don't address the issue I posted below. I still think there are people (like me), who don't even have the time to read most of the posts since their last visit, but instead maybe two or three threads when we make a visit to the site, which we select by the title that sounds interesting to us. Don't forget, there are billions of sites on the web and if I visit three of my favorites every day, plus 30 of the ones that I have to for my business and everyday life, then I am up to about 6 hours a day (it's true!). Now, I can cut out time spent to take in meals and for sleep (which I do), but in the end the one site where I would like to spend most of my time (to help and to receive benefits from the many helpful people here), seems to get maybe 1/2 h to 1h a month.
I imagine someone who has maybe never visited the site before and who, on a hunch, comes to take a glance after they passed someone, also in a Pagoda, in the Hollywood Hills, might be curious enough to see if there is a forum on the web, where Pagoda owners exchange their thoughts. They might glance at the first page of posts that greet them in the general discussion section. They may or (or, as of now) may not find a post titled: " I just saw a guy in a White Pagoda in Hollywood" and then they might have to move on. I could be completely wrong about my assessment of human behavior and I'm sure you all have much more experience in what does and doesn't work in a site. I guess, this post will probably also have to be removed in order to keep up the proper protocol ;-)
Please take my sometimes tongue-in-cheek remarks only a constructive food for thought. I'm just one user, although I have been there, watched, participated and enjoyed the sharing since the beginning and even before on the old yahoo groups forum. One more thing (this is just an observation, not a dig :-) : I don't think I've participated on a forum in which more of my posts get moved than here. Maybe it's because I don't know how to follow the rules very well ;-)...
Best Regards, Tom Colitt
