I see one approx. once every week during the summer here in Vancouver.  Saw a beautiful White 250SL in Ladner on the weekend at the Pet Store parking lot - Couldn't find much to fault on it - gorgeous machine.

I saw five pagodas this past Sunday at the Lime Rock Park Historic race car weekend in Connecticut including the green 230 and silver 280  in the attached pictures. Do these belong to anyone here?

Agree. Its amazing considering how 'correct' the rest of the car was!

Also, when looking at the other (green) one, at least as far as the front part is concerned, the headlights are US style, while bumpers and the absence of side lamps point out to European style. So maybe it is in between turning way one or the other? :D
Telling from hubcaps, it is probably 230 or 250...

Stan,
You mentioned "European Bumpers" in another post as well. The Bumpers on my 280SL look exactly like the Green SL's. The rear view mirror indicates it is either a 230 or 250 so no side marker reflectors/lights would be correct.

I had mentioned "green 230" in the initial post. What may be throwing you off is I believe that they added the head rests which at first glance make one believe its a later car.

Just to clarify, US 230SL's had no side markers (mine for instance). And by bumpers being different, do you mean the vertical "bumpettes" or "overriders"...you dont typically see these on US 230's either. I believe that they were an option on 280's here but could be mistaken.

Yesterday (Sunday 10th of September), at 15:30 spotted a white Pagoda with Hella driving lamps including the rare Hella plastic covers parked in Bussum (Landstraat). Registration starts DH... Did not have time to take a picture,  was late for my field hockey match.

Looked in good shape... Are you here?

Among acres of classic cars at the Goodwood Revival last weekend I saw about a dozen pagodas... mine was parked next to another Pagoda, just by coincidence, with a DB6 convertible on the other side and a Ferrari 250 GTO (replica I assume!... must be very annoying to own an original as everyone must assume it is a replica!) next along the line. The number and variety of classics at the Revival is amazing and the car park is well worth a trip in it's own right.

A few years ago at the Revival I saw Derek Bell (the former Le Mans racing legend) get into his Pagoda at the end of the days racing and drive off with his wife and young son. It was a very light blue one if I remember correctly.

I know David Coultard has (had?) a Pagoda and that Stirling Moss has also had one at one time.

My derek bell story-  was a participant in an amg school at pocono raceway and one of our instructirs was derek.  He came over to our autox session and did a run in a cl63 never having sen or run the course before.  Of course he blew everyone away on his first run.  Run two filled with confidence now knowing the course he took off screaming at a rapid pace blew through cones which were flying all overspun and eventually he returned to the finish line with a smoking cone stuck in the right front wheel well.

Ive done this program several times - tommy kendall was perhaps the most entertaining professional we had.  They all speak at lunch and eerily they all talk about their accident.  Seems professional drivers have had one memorable road racing experience that often results in orthopedic consequence

Just back from a vacation in Hawaii and as we were driving down Kalakaua Ave near Waikiki beach this past Wednesday (in our rented Mustang Convertible, power tops are sure nice:-) we spotted this beautiful  '71 280 SL. The owner was in a hurry and didn't have time to chat but said there were a few pagodas on Oahu and that a couple had been restored by a shop in Japan! Then about 20 minutes later we saw another 280SL, gold in color, pulling into a shopping center over at Hawaii Kai. Two Pagodas in 20 minutes! A new record for us.

Aloha

Saturday we participated in the Jochpass regularity with the GT40.  There were two 280SLs, both 1968 I believe, both blue, but slightly different shades.  One did very well, coming in at .72 to win 4th place.  See official pix at jochpass.com.  Select Fotos + Specials at left.  We'll get a whole bunch of our own too.  If I can figure out how to size them, I'll post them on Events.

Saw a nice looking white one, topless (a rare sunny day in N. Ireland) at the top of the Mall in Armagh.  It had southern plates so assume it was a from one of the border counties.  I would love to have talked to the guy as this was the first I have seen in the North in 5 years (on the road that is).

Spotted a nice looking white one heading north through Stinson Beach, CA around 3:30 this afternoon.  Was so startled to see a Pagoda I didn't have time to see if it was a 230, 250 or 280.  Had the hard top on and sounded really good.  Anyone here?

In July 2011 while touring Sweden I spotted this nice 280SL in Kattvik, a small fishing port on the west coast.
It’s has the US bumpers and headlights but the sealed beams were replaced by more powerful  H4’s.

And in Vianden (Luxembourg) I encountered this German registered euro specs 280 SL.

I saw this one a month ago in Malmö, Sweden. It’s not often you spot a Pagoda over here, usually only on car shows during summer time.
This was probably the last one this year!

250 auto in what looked like smoke silver today in Dulwich south London

Parked outside "the Dog" as it's known locally (The Crown and Greyhound pub) with it's hardtop on

I placed a card under the wiper. Question is, did the owner return before the rain got to it or not...?

I'm not sure if I'm lucky or not. :-\ I look at the same two cars every day and once in a while I even ask them when they plan to go home. Then I remember that I have to finish working on them and then everything goes back to normal.

So I see three every day, if I include my own..........

Rumours of your largesse are clearly not exaggerated. I'd have thought a prerequisite for departure would also be payment... ;D
