How often do you spot another Pagoda ?

Yesterday, I saw a very nice 1969 280SL in black with brown interior between Rockville and Gaithersburg, Maryland, at a restaurant.  It was a US spec car in automatic with its top down.  I pulled in and talked to who I perceived was the owner.  She was a tall black slim beautiful lady wearing a nice form-fitting white dress.  As I asked her questions about the car, she confessed that it was her husband's car who had it for 25 years.  They are from the Washington DC area.  We did not talk long as she had to go some place.  I did not notice if the car had air conditioning.  I, being from Colorado with low humidity, find the summer weather in the DC area quite sticky and muggy with the high humidity where air conditioning would be most welcomed; nevertheless, the Pagoda and the woman were quite a striking combination.  Anyone from this forum to be lucky enough to have both the car and the woman?....both classic, beautiful, and timeless.

This morning, on my way to Dublin, , north of the Cork toll on the M8, dark colored pagoda top down  followed by a 70s MB saloon going towards Cork. I think there is a MB Club UK tour of Ireland this weekend and it starts in Cork. I would ask if anyone here, but I think both drivers were women... That makes 4 I've seen in Ireland in 18months

Another one! A Pagoda, I mean   This morning, white 230SL, red interior, automatic, at a Dublin garage where I dropped SAAB for new clutch. Original Irish registered car, has been off the road for 5 yrs, in for prep prior to some Top Gear event in Dublin. Dull paint but seemed in good nick.

This morning, around 11 AM, on the lakeside road from Geneva to Lausanne, near Aubonne, a silver metallic Pagoda heading in the opposite direction from me, top down (today the weather was very nice). Younger guy driving it, I noticed he had a smile on his face ...

Went into Toronto today to look at a 74 280C and was to meet the owner at a small garage in the middle of the city.  Didn't end up getting the 280C but the owner of the shop had two SL's inside, one a 230SL in for a leaking master and a 280SL in for an engine rebuild.  What was especially interesting is the garage was called Ms Lube (check out www.mslube.com) which only has female mechanics.  I met the owner (Jessica) and the caricature on the web site is not far off the mark.  Good thing her shop is not down my way.   I gave her this web site if she is ever in need of any assistance or can perhaps provide us with some of her expertise.

I saw a white Pagoda on Monday/September 6th going northbound on Parker Road pass Stroh Road in Parker, Colorado.  Any body on this forum? If it is from the Parker area, then that would make five W113 in the area, including mine.

Just went to dinner here in Switzerland with a group of business acquaintances and got talking to the person opposite and explaining why I was here for the weekend W113 event.  Turned out that he owns  a '71 280SL with 5 speed that he has owned a year or so and has stored in Germany awaiting time to restore.  He was not aware of the significance of the 5 speed nor of the existence of this group.  Gave him a Pagoda SL Group card.  Future member maybe.

While I was walking to my hotel on Nantucket Island on Sept. 15 I saw a a 280SL exactly the same color as mine.
It was sand beige with a brown soft top.
I was walking up Main street and saw the car crossing on a side street but I wasn't able to catch up to it and did not see it again.
It's the first time I've seen a SL exactly the same as mine.

Isn't that feeling of seeing a Pagoda out of the blue something special... I rarely miss spotting them.

This morning I drove my 230SL to work (only a few miles into town.) At a four way stop, I waited for a big truck across from me to turn left. He turned and there behind him (previous hidden), was a light blue Pagoda! (top down, older gent.) Shot him a wave as I went by, then said "who the heck is that?" 9 in the morning on a Thursday? This is a small town and I thought I was pretty up on whose who. Let's hope he finds us here -- could always use some fresh blood for our local gatherings.
