Just bought a 230SL last week and although it is in generally good condition it has a few small problems needing sorting. Most are simple trim related issues and will not take major work to put right. I guess this may have been asked many times in the forum but based in Singapore I do not have local parts suppliers to rely on and will need to ship everything in myself. There seems to a large number of suppliers on the internet, can anyone recommend a reliable one with reasonable prices in the US or Europe?
One specific problem that needs immediate attention is the headlight switch. The previous owner's last comment to me handing over the keys was "You will need to replace the headlight switch". True enough the headlights don't switch on and the switch does seem in need of replacement. The full beam does work when I try the 'flasher', so I assume it is the switch at fault. Before ordering a new one, I wanted to pull out the old one to test it, hopefully without disconnecting it. It seems almost impossible to get my hand under the dashboard to reach it, let alone pull it free underneath. Is there any easy way to do this without having to remove half the dashboard?
For now I am limited to daytime driving only. Any advice would be appreciated.
Regards
