Seat Vent Trim
« on: February 25, 2007, 16:54:44 »
Hi All!

[:(!]I noticed today that I have 2 cracked vent trim pieces that are on the back of my seats.

:?: Where is the best source for these seat back vent trim pieces?  The ones I currently have look cheap...  made of plastic?

:) Thanks for the vendor leads!

Bob,
ouch - that may hurt.  :(
SLS sells them for Euro 95/each  plus shipping. See Group 91 "seats" #66.
But they do show up on eBay here and then.
Good luck!

Hi Alfred,

Thank you for the info.  [:0]WOW, these are expensive!

If these are plastic, someone is making a killing on these.

I thought the replacement turn signal stalk was expensive....

:?: Does anyone know if these pieces were used in other models also?

 :) Have a nice week!

Bob,
the seats in my car have metal vents. The oval frame is chromed for sure and probably the wire mesh also. Like most parts made by M-B in the sixties they are not simple but are assembled from 3 pieces (see picture).  If it is the wire mesh that's cracked then you should be able to replace it with a new one.  Mesh fabric is available in stainless steel from laboratory supply companies, for example.
I have seen them on eBay and you might want to send an email through the web site to vendors who routinely sell Pagoda parts, for example, "jonp821" and "vespa113", perhaps they have a pair.

Hi Jonny,
Thanks for the tip!  Yes, I did find 2 very nice used ones at Buds Benz.  Very good service and reasonable price!
Thanks again,
Bob
