Parts suppliers?

Who has the most complete part catalog for a 113. I have looked at some listed here. I am wanting the most complete with pictures price's and part number's preferably. I want to order a Niemollers catalog but I have to do a euro dollar conversion. I am looking forward to replacing some worn trim and engine part's. And would like to know who has the end all catalog.

The "end all" catalog is by Mercedes-Benz.  Get yourself a Spare Parts List for your car (I believe it is for both 250 and 280 in one book) through your dealer, the Classic Center, or call 800-for-merc.  Once you have that, call your five favorite parts suppliers for competivie pricing on the correct parts.  I have a 230 SL and I look at the 230 SL Spare Parts List book for quite a few reasons.  Very impressive, wouldn't order parts or do repairs without it.

Hi Ernie,

Agree with Rodd's comment: if you want to really know all parts are in a 280 SL (including changes during the production), you need the factory Spare Parts List. 230 SL has only one book for chassis and engine, but 250 and 280 have two. You can order them through your local MB dealer, or the USA MB Classic Center.

250/280 SL chassis&body: Ref. L6510 4434 41 (price in Germany: 62 Euros)

M130 (280 SL) engine: Ref. L6510 4436 41 (price in Germany: 46 Euros)

Both books are in German/English/French, and show drawings of all parts with its part numbers.

A very good complement is another spare parts list from MB (although without engine parts   ):
Ref. L6510 0000 04 (price in Germany: 19 Euros). It shows all parts still available, with current part numbers -because some parts have been replaced-, and current prices of the parts in Germany.

These books are really helpful when you need to order a part in the dealer, to compare prices with other suppliers, or simply to know if your car has the correct parts.

I obtained Niemoller's 2002 catalogs and price lists. They publish two versions: a summary one (144 pages: "Alles fur Ihren 230 SL, 250 SL, 280 SL") that I think they will send for free, and a more exhaustive one, Catalog D, which is 657 pages. Then separately you will need the price list (50 or so pages). Both catalogs, as far as I can tell, have all drawings also included in the Mercedes parts books, in fact they look like straight copies, and they both also include Mercedes' parts numbers as well as their own part numbering. Engine parts are also included. The extensive catalog also includes reference numbers for the parts that they sell used. Everything is in the German language, I don't think they have an English language catalog. Still, for basic information like part numbers, drawings and prices, you can get quite far without knowing German, and then there's always the (on-line) dictionary ...

   We obviously have attained a degree of computer literacy. I bid on several copies of the 250 - 280SL parts books unsuccessfully. Then I purchased the CD-ROM version of the BBB and the Parts book. I have been very happy with it because I can print any pages of interest and do not have to worry about handling them with dirty hands.

Thanks to all of you! I understand that some already have part number's stamped on them but if you could name two place's that are good to call for engine part's and two place's to call for trim part's. I will get the part number's off the part or from the catalog to double check part number and then call....? I have used Performance Prouducts K and K Adsitco etc etc for my 107 but who do you use for 113? Niemoller's would be one as soon as I can figure out the Euro conversion rate I will order a catalog but is there someone else? I am looking for a trunk mat and some engine part's like brake booster check valve, beru spark plug wire's cap rotor air filter oil filter etc. Thanks, in advance I love this site

If you click on the "address" heading, the table will sort by country. I personally have had good experience with Will Samples in Texas, and others have commented favourable about SL Tech (Gernold Nisius), Caliber Motors (Tom Hanson), SL Barn (Dan Caron - Canada) and SL Classics (Ray Paul). That's not to say the others don't offer good service and prices as well, though.

I have contacted Gernold at SL-Tech in this day and age it is rare that someone would take the time and discuss repair issue's over the phone long distance. Gernold did. He did so with a calm fashion that in my experience is just unheard of in today's hurry up marketplace.

I have no doubt that my future part search's will start and end with SLTech! Gernold's wealth of knowlege and the time he took out of his day to share restoration advice will bring me back again.

Even if the price turned out to be more, than the guy down the street I would turn to this man for a pleasant place to shop part's.

So the answer to where is the end all place for new and used part's it is SLTECH.
