Energizer 280SL

This 280sl is like the energizer bunny...  it keeps reappearing and reappearing....  except now its at a different location and a different seller, but it's the same car....?  First listing it was in CA, then it moved to FL, now in Ohio?

Am I imagining this?

Bob, the website says that this car has a sale pending. This new Ebay seller may be someone who realized all the problems with this car and is trying to dump it. You don't really think this is a scam do you? DZ

It's also interesting that the home, in the background, goes along with it. Maybe it is the same place and the names have been changed to protect the innocent?

It's something I think I saw once, also.

So many of these eBay auctions overstate the perfection and restoration of a car with not more than little presented in the auction to document the process, what was done, pictures, etc.  Sanded for over a month is a good example... what does that mean?? It sounds silly.  

Pictures and documentation of restorations and elaborate revitalizations is what interest me more.  All the grandiose superlatives turn me off of a car right away. Talk is cheap.  To me it looks like another $20-25000 car. The red interior looks way bright - pass the advil.

The engine bay isn't bad, though.

Just a few issues with this #1 car. Thanks Bob.

Serial Number didn’t match data card – top end replaced
Interior changed from black to red (data card code 131)
Hard top serial number mismatch (different top from original)
Hard top and hub cap color doesn’t match rest of car color
Major Front oil seal leak
Rear oil seal leak
Grease points caked with dirt, no sign of any recent service
Pin hole in exhaust manifold
Hot & cold idle at ~1,000rpms (in neutral), so non functional switches, relays…
Engine ran hot at idle ~200+ (however, never reached red zone)
Hood stamp wasn’t correct. Etched not stamped
Hard top handle (drivers side) broken
Neutral safety switch cable disconnected
Wire to 100 degree switch just wrapped around pin connector
Missing jack and wheel chalk
Missing tools, tools that were included had rust
Front right tire had quarter size damage to side wall
Brake warning light wire missing part
Missing heater hose grommet on firewall
Hood release cable not working right
Trunk lid doesn’t close right (may just need adjusting)
Seat belts show wear (some tears)
Headlight switch cover on backwards
Clock not functional
Missing small grommet for glove box hinge
Rubber Trunk Mat has tears
Surface rust on right side under carpet probably from A/C
Cigar lighter non functional
Missing rubber covers for headlight bucket wiring (front wheel wells)
Missing battery hold down frame
