CSV Solenoid gasket problem

The gasket between the Cold Start Solenoid and the CSV itself has disintegrated.  (Spraying fuel on startup).  I see in previous posts someone referred to it as an "O-ring", but mine appeared a cork gasket composition.  I can not find a replacement gasket listed...If I make one myself, what thickness of gasket material should be used?  I also see previous posts that the length of the solenoid rod is critical, meaning gasket thickness would matter.  Also, how big should the gasket hole be? The "protrusion" of the solenoid is smaller than the receiving hole in valve itself.  Which component should the hole match?

Hey JP. I believe the part number is A 001 997 7540        

The little bugger runs about 10 bucks! I have heard that others have found them for much less but I bought the real thing. I think they have to be fuel resistant. I am not sure cork is. Anyway, the seal is important as the CSV will leak without it.

Are there different versions of CSS or CSV?  Make sure the part number is right for your configuration.

Some kinds of cork are definitely fuel resistant, as the fuel sender seal on the fuel tank is made of cork.

oops, forgot the part numbers. As James has already mentioned, the parts book shows a little "seal ring" 001-997-7540 between the solenoid and the CSV. It looks like a little rubber o-ring, not a cork gasket. Then again, it IS a little drawing in a book, so I could be wrong. Your cork-like gasket might have been the result of a sealing hack.

The other "seal ring" is one that seals the CSV itself against the intake: 002-997-5245 replaced by 000-141-0721 replaced by 000-141-0821 (I'm including all numbers so you can ask your supplier to verify the most up-to-date part #)

both of the o rings are available.  you may need to call around to find one in stock.

I just replaced mine.  I think i purchased both from K&K.
Buds benz is also a great resource.

Follow up...
Thanks to all who replied.  Visiting a MB dealer this afternoon confirmed it a rubber O-ring, part #A001 997 7540 is correct.  Essentially a 5/16 O-ring.....Dealer wanted $41.65
I am still looking for a source, to include my friendly auto supply store where 5/16 O-rings are 10 for $3.79.... and Nitrate to resist gas and oil.  I believe I am going with the 38 cent solution!!!
