Graceland Pagodas

A beautiful day here in Memphis today 8) !

A good friend of mine, Dennis Zanone, and myself went to Graceland today to look for Elvis.  Instead we found Priscillas' 1970 280SL.  Elvis gave it to her as a gift in 1970.  It was one of her favorite cars and is now on loan to the Elvis automobile museum at Graceland.  Elvis loved music and cars and collected some nice ones during his lifetime.

Dennis took some great pictures and we thought we would share them with you.

Enjoy!

Ooops?
I always believed Priscilla had a 230 SL?
Someone here on the group reported that long ago, was it James Huber??
I'm not more sure about that.
However, I also remembered him (James) citing Priscilla that she "had severeal of these cars" ...
Maybe I am wrong, if so, I apologize for it.

Best,

Good memory Achim! Well, yes my first claim to Elvis fame is I got to rub elbows with lovely Priscilla back in 1979 or 1980. She was checking out my parent's house in Montecito, CA with the intention of having a quiet place "near L.A." to raise Lisa Marie. Anyway, I had pulled up in what is now my car, just as she arrived. She smiled as I got out and I believe she said, "I have a couple of these too".

We then sat down for a coke, and to her credit, she went on to interview me about whether the neighborhood was quiet and wholesome enough for her daughter... I must have convinced her. (she obviously didn't look in the garden too closely...) She bought the house and so my second claim to Elvis fame is Lisa Marie and I shared the same bedroom. Sort of...

So --  to be honest, I don't know if she meant she had a 230SL or simply a Pagoda or two.

Hi James,

What a great story!  Pretty cool to have this connection!
My friend's brother went to school with Elvis.  While Elvis was very popular in his music years, when he was in school, he was always the last pick when it came to sporting events...  Hard to imagine Elvis as a "last pick"...

 8) Just another cool connection with the King!
