buying a Pagoda

Hello

I have owned a R107 for the past 5 years and am thinking about trading up. Any tips for things to look out for?

I am based in the UK and would be looking for a RHD example. Presumably all but recently restored cars will have some rust. Where do you look? I have had problems with the sills on my car, but you only really know the extent of the damage when you take them off. Same with the drainage in front of the windscreen, which is another known weakspot. A small whole in the bodywork could indicate serious corrosion beneath the surface. I love the car, but am not looking for an expensive restoration project.

Any advice gratefully receieved.

Alan

Alan,

Go to:

http://silverstarrestorations.com/113SL.htm

Very succinct buyer's guide at that link.

Good luck with the search. I'm sure you'll be rewarded for your diligence.

Alan, good luck, this forum will answer any of the many questions that you will have.
Where are you based in the UK, if you are around why not pop down and see the UK part of the group at Brooklands on the 9th September.

Alan,

Rob is right.  You MUST find time to attend the Pagoda SL Group event at Brooklands.  You will meet fine owners (great people) and can see their Pagodas.  You can talk in detail about the process of finding a good car, not a restoration project.  And, you'll have fun!
