big problem with axcel refiting please help??

Folowed Joe's great post on how to remove the axcels and all went well . But now it is very hard to put the right axel back in as I hit the hub with a hammer the bearing starts to twist I can not push it in with out the bearing going more in on one side  .put the axcel in a frezer over night so the bearing with be smaller with the cold<this works for Vespa crank bearings>.and ideas??

Hello Erick,

The barrel roller bearing on the right side is always a bit tedius. As you have found out it will tend to swivel out of alignment. Try scraping the sharp corner of the axel housing with a utility knife to chamfer its sharp corner of the axel housing opening. This should help start the bearing.

It usually takes repeated attempts on the right side. Be patient.  I like your idea of freezing the axel and bearing to help.

I can't get the axle tube perfectly straightwith the jack . I think I feel  the clip catch before the bearing starts to go in? does that mean the angle is good?one last thing for now , to get the axle in should I use good force on it with a hammer?
