Replacing gasket
« on: August 28, 2007, 09:47:02 »
Hello,

I have a small oil leak from the vacuum control valve on the right side of the automatic gear box. I want to replace the gasket inside the plastic plate. The problem is that this plate is connected to some mechanism inside and I am not sure how much force to use to get it loose. Is it ok to pry out, or is it locked in place?

Hi Knirk,

I replaced the same gasket on my car about a year ago and had the same problem. Unfortunately I can’t remember all the details but I did get the plate off with much fiddling and jiggling, not too much force though. I also seem to remember having to disconnect the solenoid arm at one of the ball joints. Mine has been leak free ever since.

Sorry I can’t remember any more details but hope that helps a little.

Good luck
