Interesting milestone
« on: September 03, 2007, 21:44:44 »
So, I was rifling through some of my receipts/records for my 230SL. I have most of the major service records since we purchased the car in the late 70s -- very little before that (nothing pre-1977). Judging from the condition at that time -- it was a rescue. Anyway, I thought this kind of interesting...

In June of 1980 the mileage on the car was 13,200 KM (presumably turned over once -- maybe twice?). It was here we replaced the shortblock. Today (as in right now) the car ironically has 13,400 KMs on it! And yes, the odometer works... so almost exactly 100,000 KMs. It took 27 years! which comes out to just over 2300 miles a year. I wish I still ran as good after 27 years!  :)

Here's a good one: today I had 34567. I've been twice around, so that is actually 234,567.

Anyone else seen a good number lately?
