Heater Controls

My heater controls seem to not turn anything at all.  I believe that the valve that controls the hot water flow is frozen..  any suggestions?

Usually its the one controlling the core valve that tends to lock up.  You can access by removing the heater core access plug under the hood and spray some lubricant in there and try working from that end.

Since the controls are a fragile item and known for breaking, do not force.  Do as Dana suggests and review the numerous discussions regarding heater valves and controls via the search feature.  I believe you will find that the cable that contols the valve is prone to freezing up also.  If you know the cable has free movement, and the spray pennetrant does not work, you will need to get to the valve.  These valves are also prone to leaking.  Review the posts on this subject and you will know what you need to do.

Micheal,
You must be of a short stature to fit in the Kaiser.  How can one swing some long legs past that forward sliding door?  The opening is very narrow and compounded by the seat.  I tried on out for size and it was difficult.  But have to admire the styling and ideas.  Beautiful!

you may not have a access plug on your car. The early 230SLs (like mine) did not have that plug. I am trying to free it up without cutting a hole where the plug is on the later cars. I am also thinking about creating another remedy other than cutting a hole, such as a manual valve that i closr off...It does not get too cold too often in GA and I do not intend to drive in bad weather.
