Since we've been talking about exceptional Pagodas, I thought it would be interesting to some folks to see this 190 SL that is likely the nicest, most original anywhere:

I worked on one that had less than 13,000 original miles once. Nice red one with black interior.

Borat would refer to this 190 as a "virgeen"...

Just curious -- Dan or others? -- what's the state of affairs for owning and maintaining a 190? Parts available? cars out there? (besides this one!)... range of prices? I hardly ever see them. They are cool.

They're out there an available. Prices range anywhere from 15K to 150K depending on what you want. I think an average price would be 35 to 45 for a basic driver with everything looking and working as it should. They're priced at least 50% more than a 113 in similar condition. They made half as many so that factors into it.

You can get most of the parts you want but some are NLA and others will be soon. The club has a fair selection of book store items that makes restoring 190 far easier as far as understanding how it's done but you still need deep pockets.

These aren't some cheap little 4 banger like they once were. When I started back in the late 70's you could buy a nice example for under 10K. That same car would be 50K now.

I saw it's sold. It looked great... if this was sold in the US for $150K (the condition is excellent) and you exported it to Europe you could make a tidy 40% by just selling it here... it would probably fetch €150K here...
