Heater Question/Survey
« on: November 15, 2007, 12:25:31 »
Now that the weather is cooling here in California, (Brrrr, can you believe the temprature drops into the 40s and 50s here at night?) I've noticed that my heater seems to be less than efficient.  I know, check the valve, hoses, core, etc. but I'm just wondering if this is normal for these cars.  Is it a common problem?

Hey Chuck. This came up in a recent thread -- and I think the consensus was that if all is working properly, the heat output is actually pretty good. I know mine gets the job done and I am in a slightly cooler area than you (Nevada County) But not much.

Now, the catch is the part about "working properly." I know I had to have my heater core and valve etc overhauled -- about 10 years ago. I think many of us had or will have to do this at some point. (maybe others can confirm this part?) Good luck.

Hi Chuck - - - Perhaps the first thing you should do is pick the top off the thermostat housing and see if there is one in there!  My  engine never gets hotter than 180 deg because I removed it to troubleshoot an overheating problem and as yet have not installed a new one.
