Identifying a Part by its Part Number
« on: November 18, 2007, 12:56:57 »
I have some original MB parts, mostly small stuff for my 280sl, still in plastic bags with thier part number stickers on them from old repair projects that I never got around to doing until now. Some of these parts do not look familiar to me, and I would like to know how I can use the part number to identify them. I do have a parts book, but it lays out the parts by system. I would like to be able to look up the part's name and/or location by its number. Is there an online parts number catalog? Do I have to go to the MB parts department at my dealer? Thanks!

Hello,

The large dealer parts books has a listing in the back. Look up the part number and it will tell you which page the part is listed on for identification. Some of us have these books, if you would like to list the parts we can  look them up for you.

Yes, certainly there is one. Also gives you the current price. You will find it at:
http://www.mercedes-benz-oldtimerservice.com/content/classic/retailer/classiccenter/en/home/home/home/oldtimerservice/spare_parts/available_parts.html

remember to type the part No starting with an "A" and no spaces

Joe, thank you for offering to look up these part numbers. Since we had been working on a 280SEL in the past, it may be that some parts are for that car.

Here are the numbers:

113 997 01 81

A 113 826 00 12

000 492 01 83

009 545 93 28

A 111 264 00 32

A 111 992 05 10

A 009 545 30 28

A 309 261 07 80

A 107 471 16 15

Thank you!

Hello,

My dealers parts book is not the lates edition, so some of these numbers could be later versions which are not listed in my early book.
Here us what I found,

113 997 01 81
firewall heater tube rubber grommet, part #60 group 83 in your owners parts book.

A 113 826 00 12
no match found try group 86 in your owners parts book.

000 492 01 83
this is the heat insulator shield for the exhaust hangaers. Two of them are used on the system. See part #13 in your owners parts book (group 49).

009 545 93 28
Not an exact number match, but looks like an electrical plug see (group 54)

A 111 264 00 32
this is the small shaft in the standard  transmission which drives the speedometer cable gear. See #93 in your owners parts book (group26)

A 111 992 05 10
This is a shift rod plastic bushing. See part #107, group 26 in your owners parts book.

A 009 545 30 28
no exact number match but seems to be grouped with more electrical plugs?

A 309 261 07 80
no exact match the prefix "309" is very unusual!

A 107 471 16 15
no eact match but the prefix "107" indicates that it was used on the later W107 chassis SLs also.

Here is some additional info on some of the parts

1138260012  is the small bracket that is mounted in the bottom of the headlight bucket.  The screw which secures the chrome frame to the body passes through a hole in this bracket.

0095459328 is an electrical plug for a W123

0095453028 is a cover for a turn signal arm on a W123 and many other versions.  Not a W113 part.

3092610780 is a transmission gasket for a W711
