This will work, but is not ideal. In the
Forum FAQ (see button top right of your page) or Frequently Asked Questions, is a very detailed section on
Uploading and inserting pictures which points to free-of-charge software you can use, which is very efficient. You can do it with any photo-processing software but Powerpoint or Paint would be my last choices.
The main advantage of the free
XnView software is that it allows you to select and crop a part of the photograph, whilst maintaining the correct aspect ratio of the photo, and then to reduce the picture size. Another tool that I recommend very, very highly is the free
Picasa application from Google. With that you can also edit and change file sizes very, very easily.
