Wiring diagram

Is there an early '67 250 SL wiring diagram available?  I have the dealer shop manual for 1959 passenger cars as well as the 1968 manual, both covering the 113.  But, one has a 230 SL diagram and the other a 280 SL.  My issue is whether there is a separate wire for the trunk light originating at the fuse panel as the 280 SL shows (#1 always hot) or whether it's spliced into the taillight loom as the 250 S diagram shows.  The 230 SL diagram does not show a trunk light.  I suspect mine is spliced.

The boot light of my early 250sl works only when the lights are on.
The 250 280sl owners manual has the 250sl wiring diagram in it.

The trunk light on my 230SL (#018381, Oct. 1966) operates only when headlights are on.  I think this is true for all W113 models.

A 280SL trunk light works even if there are no other lights on.

Both my 230sl's as well as my 250se/c trunk lights only operate with the lights on (any setting). I suspect this may have been standard across all model lines. Perhaps this changed with the 280 series (including sl's), but this is pure conjecture based on the circumstantial evidence here.

On another note, I've always felt the 250 cars got the short end of the stick with regards to adequate coverage in the two BBB's.

Beyond conjecture...it's what the wiring diagrams show.  The 230 SL wiring diagram does not show the trunk light, but the 250 S does (not 250 SL) and shows the power tied into the taillight harness rather than direct, always on power like the 280 SL.  So, you are correct.  Enough dealers must have complained in response to customers.

Well, my trunk light is a flash light! The earlier cars didn't have them...

John - The wiring diagram is in the Owners Manual which should have been with the car when you got it from George.

Thanks Vince, it is in the manual, but doesn't show a trunk light.  Anyway, it's been pretty well established the MB originally had it tied into the tail lights and then changed it to the #1 fuse as always on by the 280 SL.

John.  If I remember correctly it is (or was) tied to the parking and tail lights and I think always used the parking light position.  In fact, I think it states so somewhere in the Owners Manual.

I really had not seen all the pics until recently, but I have enjoyed them and commend you on all the info you are providing to folks on this forum.
