clutch is making noise when engaged
« on: September 26, 2003, 23:57:03 »
hello thanks for the advice on the welded points. it turned out the gap was too tight. a mechanic suggested ikar brand points instead of bosh they have an air vent hole on the points and he has had sucess with them. the car is running great with the new points and fuel filter. my car just started making a noise when the clutch pedal is depressed and goes away after the car warms up. any ideas? does something need to be lubed. there is no noise when the pedal is released. thanks again this is a great forum!!!!!

Michael,
Its probabaly a dry clutch release bearing. If the car has not been used for a while, the noise may go away after some use (as bearing warms up and spreads the grease around).
If not, it will need changing but cannot cause any other damage in the meantime.
