creaking differential
« on: February 04, 2008, 04:13:11 »
When moving off from stationary I am getting a really annoying creaking from around the differential.
Opening the boot (trunk) if I rock the car I can hear this around the top mount of the differential. The mount was replaced only about 6,000 kms ago and all bolts seem tight.
Is there anything than can be used to stop this annoying noise or is it another replacement? Also how difficult is the job?
Thanks

Hi Rob,

If the main axle hanger bushing was recently replaced I would look elsewhere for the noise.  My car developed a very high pitch squeak that was caused by dry rubber bushings on the cross strut.  You may want to try and put some lubricant on the bushings to see if the noise changes or stops.  I'm speaking about part 153 and its counterpart on the outside.
