Hi,
The levers in your 230 sl are usually acrylic but were superceded by a different type on the later models.
They rotate horizontally.
The top right lever is for the air direction inside the car. either to the screen or the floor
The top left is for the fresh air vent in the scoop on the bonnet. open or closed
The bottom left turns your heater on
The bottom right allows additional air through the heater for the passenger.
The bottom left lever could be very hard to move because the heater valve may be stuck.
Be careful not to force them.
let us know how you get on.
