Lower Oil Hose "Donut"
«

My lower oil hose has a solid rubber "donut" on it, whereas the non-MB replacement does not. What is the purpose of this? Do I need it?

I believe it is to prevent the line from chafing against the edge of the power steering pump bracket.

Pardon my ignorance. What is an "oil hose"? I put oil in the top of the engine and drain it out the bottom. No hose required.

Hello Rodd,
Your 230SL does not have an oil cooler or rubber oil hoses. The 280SLs ll had an external oil cooler with two oil hoses running from the engine to the oil cooler which is next to the radiator.

Righty oh, Joe. How about the 250's oil cooler? MB just kept trying to cool em down. non sequitor-- Was it Buddy Baker that won the Daytona '450' 11 times? His words. Then he won the 500 on the 17th(?) try.
