A/C Fan Speed
« on: March 07, 2008, 07:30:24 »
I have been pondering doing something about the fan noise on my Buds A/C kit as it is quite intrusive at low speeds. Ideally I would like to add a slower speed below position 1 and delete the high 3rd speed as this does resemble concord at take off and gets the interior ice cold in seconds. Are there any electrical wizards out there that can let me know if this is possible.
My simple brain says move the wires along the switch 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 leaving speed 3 to position 1 on the switch with some sort of resistance to slow it down. Is this possible and what should I do other than squeezing the wire very tight to slow the electricity down!
Any thoughts anyone.

David,  You may be able to use a reostat in place of the switch.  The reostat will vary the current flow based on the position of what is selected.  I know that mercedes used thumbwheels on newer models in their hvac systems but not sure if those types would work in this application.  Hope this helps.
